As the Group General Counsel, you will serve as the chief legal advisor for the Maltego Group, providing strategic legal guidance to ensure the company's operations comply with the diverse legal frameworks of its global presence. This role demands a seasoned legal expert with a strong background in commercial law, particularly in the software and data protection sectors. The ideal candidate will provide pragmatic, solution-oriented legal advice, lead a high-performing legal team, and manage the company's legal strategy while mitigating risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
What to expect
1. Legal Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute the company’s legal strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Advise the executive team and other stakeholders on a broad range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, litigation, and mergers & acquisitions.
  • Lead and mentor the internal legal team, managing both in-house and external legal resources and fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
2. Regulatory Compliance
  • Monitor, interpret, and advise on legal developments across multiple jurisdictions relevant to Maltego’s products.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all applicable laws, with a particular focus on data privacy and protection regulations.
  • Foster relationships with regulatory bodies and industry associations to stay ahead of legal changes.
3. Corporate Governance
  • Provide counsel to the management team on corporate governance matters.
  • Ensure the company’s governance framework aligns with best practices and meets regulatory standards.
  • Oversee board meeting preparations, including drafting minutes, resolutions, and ensuring compliance with governance requirements.
4. Contract Management
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including licensing, partnership, and vendor agreements.
  • Implement and oversee a contract management system to streamline legal processes, tracking and managing contract lifecycles and key dates.
5. Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Oversee litigation and dispute resolution, minimizing business disruption.
  • Provide risk management guidance, shaping policies and procedures that safeguard the company.
6. Intellectual Property
  • Manage and protect Maltego’s intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Offer strategic counsel on IP protection and enforcement.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with key departments (product, sales, finance, HR) to provide tailored legal support and ensure cohesive operations.
  • Educate and train staff on legal and regulatory obligations as required.
Your profile in short
  • Completion of a law degree from an accredited institution
  • 10+ years of PQE (qualified in EU/UK/US) as in-house counsel at the GC level (preferred) or in a law firm with relevant legal experience, preferably in a global context.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance business growth with risk management.
  • Strong commercial acumen, delivering business-focused legal solutions.
  • Proven experience in corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Leadership experience with a track record of mentoring and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
